In order to achieve higher speeds lightweight construction is gaining ground in rail traffic too,. The front end of the high-speed Japanese “Shinkansen” train type E4 is realized in sandwich technology using a ROHACELL®. structural foam core. ROHACELL®. was chosen because of it´s high rigidity, excellent fatigue properties, low weight and last but not least, because of it’s ease of thermoforming allowing the aerodynamic design of the train. |
